5th & G Plaza
Davis, California

This mixed-use redevelopment project in downtown Davis occupies an entire city block and includes a 60,000 square foot office building, a five-screen cinema complex, 12,000 square feet of retail space, and a 5 story parking garage. As a design-build project, it exemplifies the beneficial effects of a positive interaction between the client, the designer, and the builder.
Many notable California dignitaries were present at the groundbreaking ceremony in 1997, and commented regarding the promising results of the prospective project for the community of Davis. Congressman Vic Fazio said, "I am pleased to have played a role in bringing the community and Department of Agriculture together. I will continue to support efforts that bring together Public and Private interests in a manner that benefits the whole community. The 5th and G Plaza project is a great example of this type of partnership." Davis City Manager, John Meyer, stated, "this project represents a positive partnership between the City of Davis and a private developer. It brings retail, parking and shoppers to the downtown."
